Neighbors, I've seen many comments about the need for forced mental health and addiction treatment since the Arizona shootings. Obviously, the majority of Americans believe in some mythical comprehensive public system out there. (You know, more of that charity for welfare queens.)
Sure, we know how to help people with all sorts of mental health issues, but our society refuses and no treatment system exists except through the VA. Since we have a global empire to consume all of societies resources, we good folks believe that the millions of famlies begging for mental health treatment need to pull themselves up by the bootstraps. Only the wealthy tend to have access to approriate and integrated mental health services. Most people can't access the most minimal treatment. The harm of this policy failure is enormous for individual families as well as for society as a whole. Stop asking how a 22 year old could slip through the cracks, when in reality, millions of people are begging for treatment that they can't access voluntarily!
