Kudos to Matt Wolfe.
He filed a lawsuit challenging Frank Rizzo's right to run for reelection to
City Council based on a loophole in the law governing his supposedly
irrevocable promise to retire when he signed up for the ill-conceived DROP
program.
Now, two separate groups have likewise filed suits to eliminate Marian
Tasco from her City Council race and Marge Tartaglione from her City
Commissioner bid.
Aside from whether any of these people "deserve" the votes of the people
based on their public service history, they're trying to "game" the system
and -- IMHO -- ought not be let get away with it. How can we expect to clean
up city government if the moral values and sense of decency of the people
making decisions are questionable?
