They also said that I should contact the SPCA so that they have record of the attack. Aside from filing a lawsuit (and the owner did not look like he could afford our vet bills) it seems that we have little recourse. I want to ensure that this animal is euthanized so that it does no more harm, but I am unsure where to begin. If anyone has any ideas about where to start please contact me via email at [email protected]. Sorry to hear about this. Fortunately, we have a place like Penn Vet nearby that can go well beyond what most independent veterinarians are set up to do. If the owner has a dog like this (they're expensive), he can afford to cover your vet bills. You can sue in small claims court without an attorney (that's what small claims court is for). I don't think you can go for anything more than the actual bills, although you may be able to get an order to have either the dog or the owner euthanized. Matt Wolfe, a local attorney who's very active in community affairs, may be willing to give you a complimentary opinion as to whether it's worth your trying to sue, and for what (especially if you're a Republican!). He's not an attorney I categorize as unnecessarily or excessively litigious, so what he may tell you should be reliable. email him at [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) . ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alan Krigman KRF Management, ICON/Information Concepts Inc 211 S 45th St, Philadelphia PA 19104-2918 215-349-6500, fax 215-349-6502 [email protected] or [email protected]
