Subject: Community Education Center on Lancaster Ave.
Community Education Center needs your help and all you have to do is
vote online!
Rebuilding Together Philadelphia has an opportunity to "win" $50,000
to invest in needed repairs for the the Community Education Center
(CEC), and we need your help in order to make this possibility a
reality.
A national sponsor Maxwell House is holding an on-line voting campaign
and the top five finishers get $50,000 each to work on centers like
CEC.
All you have to do is:
** Vote for Community Education Center (PA) every day between April 13
and June 17 at
http://www.kraftbrands.com/maxwellhousecoffee/drops-of-good/Pages/community-education-center.aspx
or just go to http://www.maxwellhouse.com to vote.
** Identify friends/colleagues/family members and remind them to vote
for RT Philadelphia-CEC everyday during this time period.
Some background on the project: Located in West Philadelphia, the
Community Education Center is a non-profit, community based arts and
education center whose mission is to strengthen the sense of shared
community and culture among peoples of differing backgrounds and
cultures through the arts. It is basically a West Philly landmark (see
more info below)
Thanks for your consideration.

About CEC
Located in West Philadelphia, the Community Education Center has been
a cultural hub on Lancaster Avenue for many years. It is a community-
based arts and education center whose mission is to strengthen the
sense of shared community among people of different backgrounds and
cultures through the arts. Accordingly, its mission is very much
aligned with RTP’s goals to revitalize communities in need. To build
well-rounded, creative, positive individuals, and stronger
communities, access to and engagement in the arts is critical.
For many, the CEC is their only exposure or access to arts
programming, including dance, theatre and music. CEC is poised to make
greater and more meaningful contributions to the community, yet it is
limited by financial resources. This project would reduce key
limitations so the CEC can continue to have a significant impact on
the lives of those who use the center directly, and the surrounding
community.
The CEC provides training in dance, music, and theatre; assists
artists with production, promotion, rehearsal and audition space; and
offers artist-in-residence, youth training and support programs to the
community.
