"Pet owners might also be concerned even though no one has yet posted any links about the effects of Roundup® on dogs, etc."   Wilma,   I posted consumer complaints in 2009 which included reports of acute symptoms of exposed dogs.  The formerly homeless man in Clark Park, who I recently reported, experienced similar reactions to those reported in dogs.   Gastrointestinal problems seem to be present immediately after exposure in human and canine.      Lew Melmen asked about seizures in dogs when he was interested in the past.   In my review of the literature two years ago, I saw that many scientists are also worried about neurotoxicity.   (Scientists, who publish honest research about chemicals, risk tremenedous retaliation much like people in West Philly who expose the dictatorship of civic ass. organizations.  Anecdotal reports are all that people can trust until scientists from the democratic countries expose the deceptions.  Denmark banned this poison long ago.)   The unacceptable warning plaques, designed for sububurban homeowers, put the humans and dogs of Clark park at increased risk for immediate exposure.  The dogs roll in the wet chemical as if they are rolling in the morning dew!     (you will need to use the archives for RoundUP posts in 2009.  I'm in Boston with this silly netbook and my main computer is in the toxic upscale shopping destination formerly called Spruce Hill)         -----Original Message----- From: Wilma de Soto Sent: Jun 24, 2011 7:57 PM To: Glenn moyer , mcget...@aol.com, UnivCity listserv Subject: Re: [UC] Roundup - you read it here first! I am not even going to try to get into meetings behind meetings which I feel, in my opinion, are characteristic of UC community groups and the various "Friends of" offshoots that I have worked with. For ME it was a matter of clearing up the confusion as to whom was aware of what the plans were for the revitalization of the park.  I  stated earlier that in MY experience, one has to take the heat as a representative of a volunteer community association if questions from the community-at-large are asked.  It was not pleasant given all the time money and work I put in, but there it is. "It would be nice to say that all we do is work our tails off and plant flowers and trees, but the other things done in our association's name have nothing to do with us.  Unfortunately, as I said before it's the "nature of the beast" and one has to take the heat."   That's absolutely right!    Ever since the community rejected the original park redesign and transfer of control to Penn's UCD, the FOCP leaders have demanded back room dealing.  The public and park users were excluded from all planning meetings.  Transparency was rejected because the FOCP leaders demanded to be solely in charge.  They needed to deliberate secretly with the UCD "experts."  People were only allowed to sit through dog and pony shows and be "educated."   The people were supposed to put full faith and trust in these FOCP leaders, as they mercilessly attacked all requests for inclusivity and transparency as ridiculous.    Now, the poor pathetic FOCP leaders are supposed to be excused from any culpability because they're "out of the loop" and don't know what is going on!!        I know the FOCP position.  It's crazy Glenn's fault that neighbors were exposed to dangerous chemicals.  His many years of reports about these chemicals and his requests for transparency and inclusiveness were so distracting to these great leaders.  As Tony, Frank, and Brian have long been pointing out, crazy Glenn is the actual cause of all problems.     In reality, the people of the community would most certainly have put breaks on these chemicals years ago!  But FOCP would not allow the people to shine light or question any details of the privatization.                             -----Original Message----- From: Wilma de Soto Sent: Jun 24, 2011 5:06 PM To: mcget...@aol.com, UnivCity listserv Subject: Re: [UC] Roundup - you read it here first! Actually Tony wrote me offline and gave me whatever information he had that the FOCP was not involved and had no knowledge in the chemical spray of Roundup® during the Clark Park renovation. That is not to say I should excuse him or Frank. Those of us who are volunteers in community associations must take the rap, as it were, for things which we may not have approved during our term but for what happened while we were involved when community members ask for information.
