I seem to be removed by Kyle from the ucneighbors list. My emails
bounce back with a google message saying as much.
Rick,
Congratulations. A process for truth and reconciliation requires an
ingenuous desire for healing by all parties. Both a commitment to truth
and cessation of hostilities are prerequisites. Bullying, name
calling, lies, etc. are all signs that truth and reconciliation can not
yet occur. It can not be forced.
I know people feel the need to have maximum connections for restaurant
reviews, etc. But supporting a group dedicated and founded on the
concept of information control and censorship is never the correct decision.
Most of traditional media no longer serves the public good and have
become vehicles for manipulating and misinforming the people. While in
no way perfect, the internet and open listservs allow citizen
journalists to resist deceptions and disseminate honest information.
(e.g. It was the public list which informed our neighborhood that there
was an important issue at the recent candidates forum and that the
poisonous RoundUp was regularly dumped on Clark Park, etc.)
If an organized deceptive campaign had destroyed our public listserv
several years ago, and all the new residents believed that ucneighbors
was no different from a public list, do you see how the iron grip on
information would have been sealed? This is why ucneighbors was kicked
off the Penn computer network and not because the university quakes in
fear from lawsuit threats by Glenn Moyer!
Think about how ridiculous Cassidy's recent lie really was, and why he
kept any information from his contained group at ucneighbors until he
saw an opportunity to use me for his lie. Hell, I would have forced
Penn to paint the campus purple if I had that much power over it!!!
The neighborhood and society will be much better if we all allow
ucneighbors to rot away and become a club for bullies and propagandists,
instead of turning our backs on the few public forums like PFSNI and the
purplelist. They can call me all the names they want, but who really
gives a damn?
Resisting bullying,
Glenn

Maybe that solves Hedra Packman's issue(s). Kyle can be bad, people
can be bad, democracy beats elitism and I prefer it to Kyle's personal
dictatorship, but I'll miss the listserve very much!

I do know Hedra. She a neighborhood resident. I served on the Board

She also had to put with my fellow elder Obie Eliot Shelkrot for years.
I am sorry to lose her. She's good people.
