I've copied the FOCP minutes from Dec. 29, 2011 below. This statement was included at the end of Tony West's report, but it is the only mention of Levcom I could find on the FOCP web site. From the FOCP minutes, it appears that the FOCP board didn't have any previous discussions about "FOCP input" regarding the secret meetings conducted by unknown groups with the city. They seem to be informed of the "policy discussions" only after the permit focus group ended with only a 1 month comment period remaining. Neighbors, the FOCP never informed the community that policy talks were occurring with the goal of radically redesigning our parks and rights. Now, they will not tell us anything about the role of Levcom, only that Tony West is chairman, whatever that means. If there are responsible members of the FOCP Board on this list, could you please tell us if Levcom is the public relations firm, Levcom Group, based in south Korea? And please tell us anything else you know about their "managing" of the "FOCP input" It looks like some Board members may not know what their leaders have been doing, and that is nothing new. But it's up to you now, to help the community get answers! Certainly, the subscribers to the public listserv can now see that FOCP leaders have kept the community completely in the dark. They are attempting to pretend that they are surprised about the privatization, but that it's no big deal! What is Levcom? What is their role?
Large Events (Tony)Tony presented a written report on the changes to the procedures for large events. Our window to provide feedback on the new procedures ends 2/1/12. We would prefer for all local regulations to remain the same. We would also prefer the permitting process to begin earlier than proposed by the Parks and Recreation department in each year, meaning in January instead of February as proposed. We would prefer fees of $100 per event; Parks would prefer more. The process covers much larger events than would be held in Clark Park. The new process assumes that organizations like FoCP will be in control of any event in a park and will be central contacts. There may be some events held in Clark Park that FoCP would not normally sponsor. LevCom will meet in the next few weeks to continue to manage FoCP’s input on this matter.
