Here is a brief report which addresses the reality of ALL pharma criminal settlements, and why it always continues. It's the same free pass as the banking industry gets through their politician servants and control of regulatory agencies. (once I helped with a study of one of these antidepressants, buproprion, which they brand as Wellbutrin.)
While the media hypes the dollar amount of criminal settlements in these criminal off label drug pushing schemes, which harm millions of people, they don't tell you that the fines are never more than 10% of the profit they made on the specific crime! Never! And no corporate executive ever goes to jail. If a bank robber steals a million dollars, does he get to keep $900,000 and get a bonus from his criminal gang? That's the deal given to big pharma pigs. Taxpayers pay for the research and development of new drugs. Despite the lies, pharma corporations then get all the profits, but engage in crimes because their greed is insatiable.
