Hello All, Greetings to the coolest neighborhood in the entire world!
I am planning an arts festival for June 8th, from 11 am to 5 pm, at the High School of the Future. My organization, West Park Cultural Center, provides arts programming there, and adult education at the West Phila. Senior Community Center. We are building a wonderful network of organizations committed to connecting the Centennial District neighborhood to arts and culture in West Philly and beyond. This is our 6th annual festival, themed "Friends Across Cultures" and last year we had over 30 organizations participating, and about 1500 attendees. Included this year: Tangle (beloved among us!), Sattriya Dance, Roger Lee Dance, Lady Hoofers, New Freedom Theater, Vivaci (tarantella), Martin Luther King Jr. Mass Choir, and more. Also partnering with Please Touch, Franklin Institute, Zoo, ArtsRising, ArtWell, Build-a-Bridge, and more. This year, we have a great group of performers and artists providing activities. But I need more! We just had 2 bands drop out (we will have an outdoor stage, the showmobile rented from parks and recreation). And I am realizing we could use some more activities in the Children's Pavilion, where traditionally we have drawing workshops, performances, and interactive demonstrations. I would love to have a storyteller too, and some interactive theater games! Is there anyone out there that would like to join in a West Philly happening? We are open to any PG-rated genres that are willing to come. We are operating on a shoestring, so I can't promise $, but I can guarantee exposure, networking, and gifting appreciative audiences!
