Please read below. This note is from a University City neighbor who is one of
the ministers officiating. Their plan is to have many, many ministers in their
Eastern PA Conference commit the same forbidden (by the Methodist denomination)
act - officiate at a same-sex union - so that their Conference may be unable to
take them all to church trials and oust them all. They are doing this in
support of their colleague and to attempt to convince their church allow
same-sex unions.

They would like to fill the church with wedding guests. Are you free on
Saturday at 3 p.m.? If so, please consider attending! The church is just
north of City Hall, on Broad St. just above JFK Blvd. at Arch St. - easy to get
there by trolley.

More than 30 United Methodist pastors from Eastern Pennsylvania have agreed to
jointly officiate a same-sex union at Arch Street United Methodist Church, 55
N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 9th. This
is an unprecedented showing of solidarity for an embattled colleague that could
lead to all of them having to turn in their credentials and be ousted from
their role as clergy within the UMC.

The colleague is the Rev. Frank Schaefer, who faces a Nov. 18th church trial
in Chester County for officiating at the 2007 marriage between his son and
another man in Massachusetts where civil marriage between people of the same
gender is legal.

HOW CAN YOU JOIN IN THE SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT AND FACE DOWN HATRED
You can attend the Holy Union on November 9th. We want to pack the church.
