"think about the loss of five trees this past summer. The total cost of those tree removals was $41,000. That’s between five and six thousand dollars per tree, and most of those had been torn from the ground already "
Siano's calculation skills work about the same as West's ability to count votes, or Frankie's ability to announce meetings in the local newspaper as required. At a cost of $41,000 to remove 5 trees downed by a storm, the real cost to taxpayers was $8200 per tree.
Of course that's ridiculous, but that's how privatization works! We saw, with the upscale lighting on Baltimore Ave., that UCD keeps 2/3 of "grant money" for its "administration" of grants. (Grants are nothing more than rebranded taxpayer dollars, once referred to as "pork barrel spending.")
Of course, now that these gang "leaders" helped to secure the demand for corporate secrecy; we'll never again gain access to how this private Penn driven NGO spends taxpayer money. Remember, how they told us that RoundUp was nothing more than "organic fertilizer." Hahaha-we have no right to know! But Siano justifies killing trees because they put "phytoxins" in the park that interfere with other plants. The hypocrisy knows no limits!
Look, the FOCP leaders maintained an iron curtain around their corporate redesign meetings from the beginning. People weren't confused. Siano's assertion that people weren't aware of their secret schemes simply tries to insult the public. These civic association leaders always insinuate that people are unaware of their secret plots because they are lazy and ill informed. But of course, what really happened was that people were deliberately misled, as FOCP insisted that they were doing a "little maintenance" to "improve the park."
They redesigned the park exactly the way the Penn power brokers wanted, and they attacked the character of anyone asking for transparency and public participation. I know this from very personal experience!
Obviously, people are still pissed off about the trees, as am I. From my window, I see the devastated park everyday. The trees are gone; replaced with a gravel pit; and the soil has been devastated by biocide. People should never ever trust anything that comes from that secret, deceptive little gang or their masters!
Glenn
PS: Why do the members of FOCP keep allowing that gang to continue unchallenged? Why do Americans continue to believe the lies about the "efficiency" of privatization? (Yea, I'd like the efficiency of getting $8200 to haul away free firewood-hahaha)
