 Hello All,
I want to invite you to give impactful expression to our shared dismay at
this happening in our neighborhood. If you are like me, you were alarmed
by the sound of 3 helicopters persistently flying overhead that night.
Turns out they were news helicopters, which are very quick on the draw
when it comes to police shootings. There is more to be done in response,
but to begin with we are asking for you all to express support to Philippe
and his family by donating to the fund we have set up. Kate Krauss has
been hugely instrumental in helping me to get this going, and we are very
grateful to Mariposa for lending their very cool set-up for receiving
donations directly into their registers. We will be posting this on
facebook, and please feel free to spread the word through your own social
networks. The text below is what we are planing to put out.
We will accept donations for the next 2 months, and I will try to keep you
all updated as to how the amounts are going regularly. We know that his
family would very much appreciate your prayers as well!

 Yours,
Patty

THE FUND FOR PHIL

Philippe Holland, a 20 year-old community college student, was shot three
times by police--apparently by mistake--at 51st and Willows Street in West
Philly on 4/22. He is recovering at the Hospital of the University of
Pennsylvania. His family asks for prayers and wants to spread the word that
he has "never, ever, EVER, been in any trouble." If you would like to chip
in to help his family cope with his expenses, you can drop off money with
the cashiers of the Mariposa Food Coop.

Philippe's family is also accepting donations through PAYPAL:

Below is a photo of the flowers and card we gave his family on April 24th.
