Subject: [UC] Fwd: Following death of student, Jackson School community needs our help! share/forward...From: Amara Rockar <[email protected]>Date: May 22, 2014 12:41:56 PM EDTTo: undisclosed-recipients:;Subject: [UCNeighbors] Following death of student, Jackson School community needs our help!Hi all,A 7-year-old attending Jackson Elementary became ill at school yesterday without a nurse on staff and died at CHOP several hours later. Please support the Jackson community in making these two productive, actionable, and achieveable demands of our leaders. I have excerpted the demands below. The full statement is very moving."We are asking all Philadelphians and Pennsylvanians to support us in making two demands:1st: We demand that every city council member release a statement TODAY that they will vote for the $120 million dollars that is already on the table to be provided to our schools immediately. Our schools desperately need this money.
2nd: Unfortunately, even with that $120 million, we will still have the same inadequate staffing next year. We demand that every city and state elected official pledge to do everything in their power to ensure that when Philadelphia’s schools open this Fall, that every one of those schools has a full-time nurse, a full-time counselor, and teacher staffing levels that ensure the safety of our children and give them the opportunity to learn.
It is time to stop playing politics with the education and lives of the children of this city and provide permanent funding that matches the devotion of our teachers and staff and the hopes and dreams of the 200,000 children in Philadelphia’s public schools."

Linda,
Here is more information about the dead homeless child. A huge number of children live in poverty and their lives and hopes are in danger, every day, in countless ways. There is a longstanding war against the poor, and working class young. De-funding schools based on race and class is just one part of the war often called "school reform."

Thanks for forwarding this petition. It gives all of us an opportunity to make a pledge to save the lives of children and future generations across the planet. But people need to understand the realities of petitioning the corporate government and protesting single issues. Any mere delay in the war on public education must be recognized as an ephemeral pyrrhic victory.
A recent study at Princeton has provided clear evidence about the value of majority opinion, upon our official government policy making. The people have zero influence when our aspirations and well being goes against the ruling oligarchy or corporate plutocrats. The data is clear! Our pleas meaning nothing to the prostitutes in government.
The reason the Occupy movement was brutally crushed by the forces of fascism across the country was because it represented our only hope as citizens. Only when we understand that all the injustices in our society are united under a single oppressive system, neoliberal capitalism; in its inevitable final form, fascism; do the people take back power! All of the institutions of power/oppression(media, universities, governments) are arrayed against us, and these institutions must all be overthrown together with our ruling elites. They hold sham single party elections (the corporate party), and we are told to send petitions, which they throw in the garbage, and respond with platitudes and lies. But the solidarity of Occupy scared the hell out of our rulers- and for good reason.
Read evidence here, about the corporate/government planned attacks against Occupy.

The reason our parks have been privatized, and the first amendment abandoned, is also connected to the attacks on public education and the war on all of us. What people need to recognize is that the entire system of oppression must be rejected or we are all divided and conquered. That is how they win. And people cannot support one part of the imperial machine because fool's gold is rattled before them, and expect that petitions will help, when the fascists make the next attack on their war against all.
Thanks again.
Solidarity and revolution now!
