I remember when stop and frisk became national domestic war policy. Thinking people understood that the police state was no longer an omnipresent threat in a proto-fascist empire, but a reality in a fully emerged global fascist system. The local middle class either supported it outright with the usual angry self righteous outbursts, or they repeated slogans like "we gotta do something to be cleaner and safer."
The police were wholly unaccountable and uncontrolled violent gangs, when the blank check of "stop and frisk" jumped out like a gigantic green light. When people forget history and ignore reality, tragedy and trauma will always follow.
Those people, who follow the atrocities of the empire through its world wide web of dictatorships, recognize that poor neighborhoods here are going to be 'shocked and awed" the same as the people in east Ukraine, Palestine, Pakistan, Egypt, Bahrain, etc., etc.,etc. We have been training terrorism and brutality around the world for many decades. But most people believe the lies about American exceptionalism. The war is here and everywhere, and that is not quite so easy to ignore!
Do some people now see that modern fascism (aka neoliberalism) was never intended to bring freedom and democracy anywhere, nor make us cleaner and safer? Have any of "the folks" out there reconsidered our current path to eternal war, enslavement, and ultimate extinction?
The world is being killed with our complicity. Every crisis in the world has been man made by our masters, as we search for new addictions and tremble with fear under their guns.
