Hello All, Det. Murray gave an update on the outcome of last night's protest and activity near 45th and Baltimore.
I have to admit that the action of throwing balloons full of paint seems to me to be frustratingly off-point. It does not create dialogue, which I think is desperately needed around these issues, and it "dehumanizes" the police and the relationships we have built with them here into "them" that can be objectified into targets for throwing things at..... I would be unsurprised and more disgruntled to find out that the persons who threw the balloons are from outside of our community..... Aargh. Please make your thoughts and passions known, even collectively, in a way that forces dialog and thoughtfulness BECAUSE you are able to be resolute and articulate, and available to be dialogued with! In fact, make a way for dialog with the police - there are ways if you really want to. Interesting that Det. Murray shares the amount of taxpayer money that it will take to get the car back on the road. Yours, Patty @PPDJoeMurray: 45/Baltimore. 830pm. Two people were arrested for throwing balloons filled with paint at a cop car following a protest. Caused 5k in damage.
