Greetings!
Tomorrow, we must rally to support our students, their parents, and our schools
by demanding that City Council Vote YES for local control of our school
district during its 10am, Thursday, 9/11/2014 meeting in Room 400. We have to
turnout in massive numbers to witness the vote and to insure success for the
following:
• Resolution 140527 = 20,000 registered voters petitioned City Council to amend
Article VIII, Chapter 5 of the Philadelphia Home Rule Charter ("Referenda
Approval by the Voters") to urge Philadelphia voters "to call upon the PA
General Assembly and Governor to abolish the School Reform Commission [SRC] and
return local control of Philadelphia's schools."
• Bill #140514 = Placing on the November 4, 2014 Ballot the Question for
Philadelphia Voters to vote YES or NO to amend the Home Rule Charter to allow
the return of local control of Philadelphia Schools.
Please call, visit, email, or tweet any or your representatives and all the
At-large representatives to demand support for Resolution 140527 and Bill
140514.
This is a great opportunity for us to stand up for our schools.
Also, remember November 4, 2014 is an important Vote Day! We need to show up at
the polls in record numbers to support our schools.
