In the last 2 months we've also had 2 bikes stolen from our property
on the 900 block of south farragut - one stolen from a locked alley
- they had to have scaled a 10 foot iron fence. Another off of our
porch, they snipped the chain locking the bike to the porch rails.

I second that. We are at 45th and Pine. Someone (a couple someone's
actually) climbed our 5 ft porch wall, cut our lock attached to the
metal fence separating our porch from our neighbors and stole both
of our bikes that were also locked together with a u-lock. They had
to hoist these heavy mountain bikes over the wall. Amazingly they
left all our porch furniture, just pushing it out of the way to get
to the bikes. The police say that it is a hot crime right now, all
the way from 40th to 50th they have been getting complaints daily.
The police recommend writing down your serial number because it
makes it easier for them to find your bicycle if it is stolen. They
also recommend putting a piece of paper in the handlebar with your
name and address, proving its yours. I don't know about you, but I
am checking the flea market to see if my bike ends up there for sale!

last night someone sawed through the wrought iron porch railing to
steal our neighbor's bike on the 4900 block of cedar.
