Thanks for the info. To update you, I contacted Councilman Keeney and his office immediately replied to me. They asked for the photos and paperwork. They have a project person investigating and gathering information and have scheduled a meeting with the police. I urge anyone who has a towing truck story to contact Keeney's office. I do think consistent patrol and or video cameras at 'trouble' blocks would vastly improve things if laws are slow.

I sent the emails about incidents involving Lew Blum and other towing problems to our block list and got the story and suggestion below from Mauro Daigle who is a neighbor and owns Milk and Honey. I wanted to share his idea with you and say that we (the 1000 block of Farragut) would be willing to support an organized effort to address these abuses. Two suggestions were made: (1) a petition that could go to L&I or whoever licenses Lew Blum and also getting Janie Blackwell's office involved with taking appropriate action and (2) asking UCD and Spruce Hill to take this on as a "cause".
Thanks
Sharon

Hey all,

I was towed from CVS parking lot by Lew Blum - they made it as difficult as possible. I did have CVS pay for my towing fees and they said they would stop using lew Blum. Maybe it's time for a concerted effort - I say we file a petition to have their license revoked.
These guys are criminals.

Dear Neighbors
FYI, There are a series of reports below of what appear to be or should be illegal activities by Lew Blum towing. I know that Jim Keeney had been working on improving the laws with respect to how tow operators work but it appears that shoddy practices and intimidation continues. In addition to towing cars that are legally parked and charging exorbitant fees to get them back, one report is of an accident where "burly men" with tow trucks arrived and tried to intimidate the victim into using their services. That was familiar to me from a scary experience that I had a couple of years ago on Springfield Avenue right by the Sunoco station after I slid into another car on the ice from a broken water main. Two or three tow trucks were there instantly (they must have spotters) and the men driving them were large and aggressive. I called the police and AAA and they finally left me alone. Anyway, just wanted you to know. Please share.
