All,

Please see the notice below for an important meeting this Wednesday.

Community Meeting
The State of Preservation in West Philadelphia
Wednesday, August 24th 6 – 8 p.m.

On Wednesday, August 24th at 6 pm, University City Historical Society is hosting "The State of Preservation in West Philadelphia" at the Free Library of Philadelphia Walnut West (40th and Walnut).
Alarmed by the increasing number of demolitions that have recently occurred in University City, UCHS is organizing an event for neighbors, community groups, City agents, and organizational leaders to share knowledge and establish a baseline level of information that community members can use to rally around the issue of preservation. Topics for our agenda include:

Understanding the difference between local designation and national historic districts Understanding the relationship between zoning, property values, and historic preservation An overview of preservation resources and organizations in Philadelphia
The role of Civic Organizations and residents
Ongoing challenges & Recent successes
This event is free and open to the public. We encourage members to attend to get a better sense of how to manage the rapid change in our neighborhood.

Featured speakers include:

Martine Decamp, Philadelphia City Planning Commission
Aaron Wunsch, Penn Preservation
Paul Steinke, Preservation Alliance of Greater Philadelphia
Greg Pastore, former member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment
