I'm running the electricsheep package from Debian, on Karmic:

This version downloads sheep from the correct server. When run from the
command line, it does display sheep in an mplayer window. However, when
running as a screensaver, the screen remains blank and no sheep are ever
displayed, even after a good while.
I'm running Compiz, but the bug can be reproduced when running plain
metacity.
