In Karmic with Audacious 2.1 everything is working normally:
On close:
i...@isak-desktop:~$ audacious2

On exit through gnome-system-monitor:

On kill through gnome-system-monitor:
i...@isak-desktop:~$ audacious2
Dödad
On Ctrl-C in terminal:
i...@isak-desktop:~$ audacious2

Marking as Fixed Released.
