After some investigations on my side on Itcl vs. Tcl8.5, I have found the 
reason to this:
Itcl is accessing internal things that have changed between 8.4 and 8.5. So, 
Itcl3.2 *will* crash.

Note that Itcl3.3 will *not* compile either against Tcl8.5... this Tcl
version requires Itcl3.4 !

Yeah, this sound great... except that v3.4 doesn't exist as is! the way to find 
it is (thanks to Google for this) to download the nightly build of itcl on 
2008/12/15 from ActiveState:
ftp://tcl.activestate.com/pub/tcl/nightly-cvs/itcl-20081215.tar.gz

Final note: ...and don't expect to compile the Itcl4.0 package that is
being distributed either... this one is dedicated to Tcl8.6, which is
still in beta (too)... And according to a TIP, it is likely that the
most interresting part of Itcl will now be part of the Tcl package...
