** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Hi all, I couldn't boot normally when I wanted to install Intrepid using the Live CD. I had to do the following procedure :- a. Booted and tried booting into the Intrepid Live CD b. Failed, then rebooted, this time used F2 to boot into safe-graphics mode. c. The screen wouldn't fit in the 640*480 screen and had to use tab and trial-and-error to install the OS. d. Booted into 640*480 screen e. Did updates and rebooted again. f. Rebooted and still it was 640*480 g. Then edited /boot/grub/menu.lst and deleted where it says xforcevesa h. Then I'm able to enjoy the whole range of resolutions. What is expected behavior :- a. The Live CD should have booted without going into safe-graphics mode. b. Even if it goes into safe-graphics mode it should give me the whole screen on my CRT monitor c. After installation it should not have booted me into 640*480 I dunno if this workaround is something which would have to be performed every time I install. Please lemme know what other info. is needed.
