I think this bug is fixed. on a clean 8.10 install ive had no problems. to clarify how i got things working.
1. apt-get install xrdp. it has a dependency on vnc4server and installs that automatically. 2.System->perferences->remote desktop 3. tick allow others to view your desktop.
