It looks like my problem came out of doing an upgrade from 8.10 to 9.04. A fresh install of Jaunty seems to have cleared it up.
I finally put my podcasts back in, about 25...OK that not all of them, but most of them and no duplicates. Several of my podcasts are from feedburner and I use TWIT TV's feed for Leo and neither is a problem.
