Okay, after having had nothing but problems using Windoze XP I've
decided to resurrect an old PC to soley run SlimServer under Linux.

I've installed the latest Mandriva Linux 10.2 (I couldn't get Ubuntu or
FreeBSD to work - both failed during the install), telling the install
routine to completely clear the HD, and not to install any X or desktop
crap.

During installation I told the install routine to make the box have an
IP of 192.168.2.10 and upon first boot-up I logged in as admin, entered
su, and entered -/etc/init.d/sshd- to start the SSH deamon. Going back
to my Windoze PC I typed 192.168.2.10 into the web-browser and got the
linux box's welcome index screen, so proving the box and network
connections are okay.

Now I'm stuck. What do I have to do to install SlimServer on it,
remembering this is the first time I've used Linux? I have noted that
when I turned the Linux box off, then back on again, I couldn't get
connected via the web-browser so I assume the SSH Deamon 'script' needs
moving to somewhere equivalent to Windozes Start-Up folder.

Any detailed help, or pointers to this information, would be exremely
welcomed. BTW my music is on a second HD currently in the XP machine,
and this will be installed in the Linux box when I get things going...

Many thanks in advance for any help given.
Robbie.
