Thank you for your response. I'm sure you are right, something is wrong. Firstly, when I initially installed slimserver it was as root.
Second, to log in as slimserver to do as you suggested (start the server as user slimserver) I had to use root to reset user slimserver's password. I then logged in as user slimserver and attempted to start the server again. It appeared to just hang, so I hit an <enter> and was told wrong password. I attemtped to start it again and this time when greeted with the message 'Starting SlimServer:' I entered the user slimserver's password and was greeted with this message: ******** touch: creating `/var/lock/subsys/slimserver': Permission denied ********* Tell me if I should just rpm -e slimserver and start installing all over logged in as a regular user. Or any other suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated. -- Boris Denisovich ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Boris Denisovich's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2313 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18187 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
