FreeBSD 6.0-STABLE, latest ports (slimserver 6.2, perl 5.8.7) My mp3 collection is on an nfs mounted filesystem /home2/mp3/.
drwxr-xr-x 58 mkn mp3 1536 Aug 29 13:11 /home2/mp3 [EMAIL PROTECTED] ps auxww | grep slim slimserv 10043 0.0 19.8 51504 50204 ?? Ss 10:31AM 18:01.34 slimserver (perl5.8.7) [EMAIL PROTECTED] id slimserv uid=104(slimserv) gid=104(slimserv) groups=104(slimserv), 900(mp3) All works fine. Now, if I do a "chmod o-rx /home2/mp3", slimserver.log shows: opendir failed: /home2/mp3: Permission denied Incidently the nfs server has "/home2 -maproot=root" in /etc/exports. It's as if slimserv isn't a member of the mp3 group. The mp3 group isn't new, and nor is slimserv's membership of it. I'm sure this *used* to work, but I've changed lots of things recently (use of nfs, slimserver version, FreeBSD version, permissions of files etc.) Restarting slimserv doesn't help. I can't help thinking this must be finger trouble; but I can't see where. There's no evidence this is an nfs issue. If I write a test perl program to call opendir and list a directory that works fine (run with sudo -u slimserv ./testp). Any thoughts appeciated; thanks a lot!! -- knigma ------------------------------------------------------------------------ knigma's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1054 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18559 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
