I've been running Mandriva for quite some time as my SlimServer box. I've never tried the command you show. I have the usual files for any daemon in the usual /etc/rc.d/ directories. So when I want to start it or check the status or stop it, I use the same commands any for anything else (apache, postfix, named, etc.) (beatles)root#/home/pfarrell/aframe> /etc/rc.d/init.d/slimserver status slimserver.pl (pid 3814) is running... or /etc/rc.d/init.d/slimserver start /etc/rc.d/init.d/slimserver stop etc. All this was setup by urpmi so long ago that I can't remember, but I think it was trivial and defaulted properly -- Pat http://www.pfarrell.com/music/slimserver/slimsoftware.html _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
