It is sometime since I tried slimserver on the NSLU2. I had no problems following the instructions you mention. I would just ensure that you replace references to SlimServer_v6.2.1 with SlimServer_v2005 etc etc.. As an aside, whilst I did like my NSLU2 setup, I found it too slow in terms of menu scrolling etc., although the streaming of music was fine. The final blow came when I could not use alienbbc and therefore couldn't listen to BBC radio feeds...
