I've just built my server box with two shiny new Samsung V120CE drives to run slim server. I plan to install Linux as the OS and, being a complete Linux noob, I thought I'd come on here and ask what Linux is recommended for such an application.
I've heard of Clark Connect, which seems pretty good and easy to set up, and Ubuntu and Debian also seem quite popular for servers. The machine is a P4 1.5GHz with 256 megs of RAM and the two drives (one for backup). My machine doesn't even POST with these two drives, but I've booted to a Windows drive and the two Samsungs are recognised okay. This system will be hooked up to an ethernet router with .11g wireless for the Squeezebox3. I plan to tuck it away somewhere quiet and run it headlessly so no monitor or keyboard. Any suggestions?
