I got it working, and then installed squeezeslave.
Strange thing though: I have two PCs with identical motherboards, one with Windows 2000 pro and now one with Ubuntu. The sound coming out of the Ubuntu machine sounds like crap compared to the sound coming out of the Windows machine. The motherboard is nothing special, an AOpen MK77M II with Via AC'97 sound onboard. I'm not saying it's audiophile quality sound or anything, but for me it's been good enough playing though my Nakamichi SoundSpace 5. Is this just something I have to accept about Linux, or if I try out different drivers might it get better? Also, could the difference be squeezeslave vs. Winamp playing through DirectSound, or am I right in thinking it's probably a driver thing? -- NWP ------------------------------------------------------------------------ NWP's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3730 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22670 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
