I just setup SlimServer on a new Kuro box running Gentoo. Both the Kuro and Slim communities rock, because it was pretty trivial to get up and running.
My music collection is stored on my KuroBox. I've setup Slimserver to scan my music collection. Seperately on my Windows box, iTunes also points to my KuroBox to serve music. I would *really* like to have slimserver just use my iTunes Music Library file to load because I'm guessing it would load much quicker than the scan, and it would have playlists and podcasts. It does not look like I can simply store my "iTunes Music Library.xml" file remotely on my KuroBox, so I thought of another alternative... and would like opinions. Basically, I can write a windows service that takes the xml file, regex's the urls from the windows box to the linux box appropriately, and then transfers it to my remote drive. What's more, I can do that automatically everytime the file saved so there is no cron process and no one has to remember to run the command. I don't want to go thru this work if there is a better, simpler method of achieving this. Now I'm going to buy two Squeezeboxs... hee-hee -- stale ------------------------------------------------------------------------ stale's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5145 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23244 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
