I'm out of town right now, and won't be back until Thursday. So I definitely won't be looking at this this weekend, as I won't have access to my Squeezeboxes. >From my earlier musings on this, I noted that both of my primary issues (the directory issue as well as the fact that a shell is called for even though the account doesn't need one - causing issues with SELinux) were both dealt with by the 'useradd' command. From my previous post: > I think the problem with both issues on Fedora Core5 is the way you're > creating the account. Without -m (or -M), useradd says that we look at > /etc/login.defs to create the home directory. On Fedora Core5, this > says "YES, CREATE HOME DIR", but you also create that manually. That > may or may not be the problem (unsure). > > The problem that I'm having will be fixed by adding "-s > /sbin/nologin". > My first stab would be to: 1) Add -m (create user's home directory if it does not exist), 2) Add "-s /sbin/nologin" to fix the shell issue, 3) Recreate the RPM, deinstall Slim Server, delete the directory, then try installing. If that worked, then I was going to take that RPM and try it on a freshly installed FC5 system (that never had seen Slim Server before). My concern here is that the FC5 useradd options might be different than other platforms, or perhaps even other versions of FC. If that's the case, we might have to 'if' test the account creation, or use a variable substitution specific for FC5. But that was later - first, my plan was to just get things to work. So, that's my status. As I said, I won't be able to look at this until late next week ... so if you could make progress before then, that would be great. -- Jeff ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jeff's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=49 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23594 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
