Thanks snarly, you're one of the linux gurus around here that I seem to
rely on a lot.
My slimserver file in logrotate.d doesn't have a "daily" or "weekly"
entry. Here is for reference:
/var/log/slimserver/slimserver.log {
rotate 5
size 200k
compress
missingok
prerotate
invoke-rc.d slimserver stop || true
endscript
postrotate
# Only starts slimserver if it is supposed to
# run in the current run-level
invoke-rc.d slimserver start || true
endscript
Is there something in this file which dictates time intervals?
I updated to the latest nightly, so it doesn't appear to rescan
anymore, this might help, but still, the logrotate will still cause
rescans.
My P3 is a bit doggy, it's 800MHz, but it does get the job done (most
of the time). Unfortunately I'm asking it to do a lot of things that
it's probably not really capable of doing simulateously. I have
slimserver, an FTP server, samba, icecast, vnc, and torrents
downloading pretty much concurrently, so this might be the reason why
it's at its limits. I got another 128MB of RAM today to help out,
we'll see what difference it makes.
Thanks.
