I first installed slimserver (iirc) and then installed MythTV (prev.
stable version) on a Fedora Core 4 installation. I use MythTV with 3
tuners, one PVR350 and one PVR500 (dual tuner) card. Myth installation
was a bit of a nightmare since the ivtv driver didn't get along with my
mobo when I added the PVR500, fixed that with the help of the driver
author.

I don't recall having problems with MySQL, but that's probably because
I didn't switch from SQLite to MySQL until after I installed Myth.

I also hacked together a Slim plugin/lirc junction box to control
MythTV (actually any Lirc device) from the Squeezebox remote control.

My myth/slim server is setup in a seperate room and feeds its audio and
video (from the PVR350 tv out) to an RF modulator so I can watch TV from
all the TV sets in the house (4). Every TV set has a matching Squeezebox
3, so I've got all bases covered.

Yes, slimserver setup is an absolute breeze compared to MythTV. But
mythtv is really nice to have...

Regards,
Peter
