Bigfriedegg, dSW, et al Were either of you able to find a definitive solution to the problem you described? I have had the release version 6.2.2 working perfectly for a month or so on Ubuntu 6.06. Last night, I attempted to upgrade to the release version of 6.3.0 from the tarball and began receiving essentially the exact same error message when attempting to start with the init script. I also can get SlimServer to start using ./slimserver.pl from /usr/local/slimserver and it appears to work alright minus the initialization of my preferences.
While I will continue to bang away at the problem, I am a very novice Linux user and I would appreciate any guidance you can provide.
