Okay I figured this out on my own. I searched on the net and downloaded and installed the perl rpm modules that seemed to be missing. It would be nice if this was documented somewhere. Maybe I missed the instructions. I guess I was lulled into believing that slimserver updates were dead simple.
as simple as any other rpm. dependancies are part of that world. Some linux systems have better tools for rpm installs than others. This is a linux thing, moreso than a slimserver thing.
The naming convention on previous downloads was like this: slimserver-6.2.2-1.noarch.rpm Now the name looks like: SlimServer_v6.3.0.noarch.rpm
ah right. This appears to be a case of bringing the naming in line with the rest of the packages, and with the branding of SlimServer (case matters in trademarks, I'm told)
Note the use of uppercase letters and use of "underscore" character. The posted linux install instructions do not explain how to deal with these new names in the wget command line.
the wiki entry needs to be updated, clearly :) -kdf _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
