Possibly aimed at Dan. (if that isn't too cheeky)
I note that the apt tree for the sources.list entries point to a stable
distribution but in fact the slimserver in that distribution is in beta.
Would it be possible to build a testing dist tree for the beta version
and put the production level distribution into the stable tree ?
This way apt users can either keep bleeding edge with the testing tree
or keep a production quality stable source.list entry.
The short answer is yes, but not yet.
The long answer is:
SlimServer 6.5 is the first build that has a real Debian package built for it
nightly, with files going in the right places, and dependencies, etc. There
were a decent amount of code changes to make that happen. However, it's still
not released. So there really is no "stable" version yet for me to place in
the stable tree. When 6.5 is released (and branched), it will be "stable",
and at that point, a testing or unstable tree & build will go up.
Does that make sense?
Also, while on the subject of apt. Has anybody thought of creating an
apt source for slim plugins. I know this is a little over the top for
some small plugins but would make life easy for plugin installs.
What I'd really like to see is some sort of packaging, ala Mozilla's XPI that
SlimServer can download and install itself.
What is Slimdevices policy on hosting 3rd party software ?
Depends on what it is.. generally we don't.

Off the record, on the QT, and very hush-hush.
