Slimserver uses the DBIx class from CPAN, so if there is a compatible
DBD module for Firebird, it should just be a matter of
setting the db connect info in the slimserver.pref file. Interested
parties could test and report with any patches that might be needed and
aren't too intrusive to make it possible.
The focus for official support is still going to be mysql for 6.5, and
no telling what the future will be. The design at some level is
intended to allow changes, so that third parties can be involved in
this kind of thing.
