A comparison chart is available at http://linkstationwiki.net/index.php?title=LS_Hardware_and_Software_information In general, the linkstationwiki.net site is a great resource, including the forum. It's a good one to get to know if you're going (or thinking of going) the LS route.
If you follow the directions you won't turn it into a doorstop. But you're right that you bear all the risk, and if you think you're in over your head then you're right to think twice. If you'd rather not take the risk, you should consider (a) getting a different NAS with vendor support for slimserver (eg, Infrant or QNAP), or (b) having someone else hack the LinkStation for you. I think Robin Bowes, who frequents these forums, has done long-distance installations of slimserver on LinkStations for a small fee. -- aubuti ------------------------------------------------------------------------ aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26740 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
