No sale. I've spent the last two nights beating on this thing. After doing some dpkg --purge slimserver;apt-get install slimserver; I started over. I set some things in the prefs file like dbsource, dbusername, and dbpassword. Now I am down to this and I just can't make this go away. My MythTV depends on the mysql so I'm not keen on doing an upgrade.
Do you want to run against your own copy of MySQL? You need to remove the port=9092 line in dbsource.
