I would like to differ with the previous posts.
I started to dab into Linux 4 maybe 5 years ago and got my first
breakthru when I decided to install mythtv (tivo on Linux) and released
the potential of opensource. Now, beside mythtv, I run qmail-toaster
mail server and slimserver on tiny $150 ppc server (kurobox). I also
run "asterisk" VoIP on another server which really is an old desktop,
my telephone bill is $10 with long distance and unlimited pbx features.
Next plan - file server.

Sure it is sometimes difficult, but once you start to overcome them,
one can realize how rich and rewarding this process is. It also makes
you understand computers better, at least it did that for me.

I'm working on few of my friends, trying to convince them to try Linux.
If you are willing to help you friend, I think you should do them a
favor and recommend Linux.
