So the problem seems to be with mp3s that have been encoded by iTunes or
from some other inferior encoder. Oggs play perfectly, and I must say,
sound a lot better. I deleted some of the mp3s that had the screeching
noise and re-encoded them with LAME, and they sound better than ever,
without the noise. I blame iTunes' crappy encoder. I guess Slimserver
6.5.1 is more sensitive to this...
I noticed some changes went in just last night to better handle invalid MP3 frames. Work is progressing, keep trying the 6.5.1 nightlies.
