Something strange happened tonight... I have Slimserver installed on a Linux box that lives in a remote corner of the house and runs happily delivering music to the various devices around the house.
I've also been looking at Ubuntu Edgy EFT on my desktop machine (which is a nice distro, BTW), mainly because it has MythTV 0.20 packaged and ready to roll. Installation was a breeze, but the wierd bit is I noticed tonight, with the backend running on my desktop, that a new menu had appeared in the Slimserver 'Browse' menu, titled 'MythTV AV Media Server', under which there's a 'Recordings' and 'Music' folder. Anyone know anything about this? If I stop the MythTV backend an attempt to browse the menu gives a UPnP error, so I guess there's some kind of universal plug and play process that MythTV instigates or Slimserver looks at? Either way it looks very clever and useful as I'm aiming to integrate the two processes onto a single box at some point, the thought that the two could link together in potentially useful ways looks like fun. Any more information appreciated! Andy. -- Andrew L. Weekes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Andrew L.
