I'm trying to setup SlimServer to run on Solaris 10 but have run into a few obstacles. What I have done is setup a sparse-root zone which shares /usr /lib /sbin and /platform. I currently have Perl 5.8.8 installed in /usr/local. I want to move Perl form /usr/local to /opt/perl but don't know exactly how to do it safely. The reason I want to move Perl is so that each zone has it's own version of Perl, just in case I need to compile Perl with gcc rather than Sun Studio. This also gives me flexibility when setting up MySQL either from a precompiled distro or building it from source myself since it seems Perl, SlimServer, and MySQL can be a bit particular about which compiler was used.
