Good evening,

It seems that the SlimServer 6.5.x on Mac OS X 10.3 has a problem with
the built-in webserver (the example is that when tying in the complete
url for the SlimFX skin, then the skin never loads, and actually you
could type in any addition to the URL getting any error messages...you
just get the default skin).

I think this could be due to an outdated Perl installation (if not, I'm
blank as to "why" the SlimFX skin runs nice as stand-alone + runs nice
on Mac OS X 10.4).

So, I've found a place where I can download Perl 5.8.6 for Mac OS X
10.3. But I've also found a zillion pages warning against updating a
perl installation.

So my question is:
==================
If I download Perl 5.8.6 through Fink and then re-install my
slimserver, will it work just like that...or do I need to update the
"dynamic library" etc. as well? If so, I am a bit lost...

You can read about the Fink install here:
http://pdb.finkproject.org/pdb/package.php/perl586

Note: I only use Perl for the SlimServer.

Kind regards

Sune, Denmark

P.S. Will I need Developer Tools for this?
