The line "+ test auto = auto" from the start of the log

The first "auto" is the _directfb setting and should be "no" so I think
your shell is not doing quite what mplayer expects. This could be a
version problem or possibly the wrong shell.
What shell are you using ? It should be bash. See if the following make
a difference
/bin/bash -x ./configure --disable-directfb
