I had the same experience when I switched from CC to Ubuntu the other week. The installation went fine but it just wouldn't boot. It took me long time to realise that the distribution was compiled with PAE support which my motherboard (which I believe is similar to yours) didn't support. The solution was to download the "alternate" installation disk. That worked for me. The reason I switched from CC was that I needed to host a few DNS domains and I couldn't remove the 'dnsmasq' component (to replace it with 'bind') without removing the entire network support from the system which obviously wasn't what I wanted. CC is great as long as you stay within the boundaries that they have designed. In my case those boundaries were too restricting. -- bergek Transporter - Genelec 8020A Squeezebox 3 - Yamaha NX-A01 Serener GS-L02 - Via EPIA SP8000 - Ubuntu 6.06 Server ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bergek's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7805 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33971 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
