Hi, there! It took a long time till I got here. I tried several streaming solutions for my problem and I even don't know, if I'm right here, anyway. But let me tell You about my problem:
I've got two very old laptops with build in soundcards that need a new meaning of life. It's a Thinkpad 755C (486DX/4) and a "no-name" one with a Pentium Classic. All my music is on the "main"computer in mp3 or ogg format. As you can imagine, it doesn't make any sense to feed a 486 with a mp3- or ogg-stream, but I've read that the slimserver can handle wav- (and flac-)streams and that's why I want to chose slimserver for my network-streaming. I've already noticed that there's the convert.conf for doing the configuration for this, but quite a few things are confusing for me (for example: do I still redirect the client to http://serveradress:9000/stream.mp3 if it is NOT a mp3-stream?), and I'm not really the man for using commandline-tools like sox or mpg321. So, maybe someone does know the two lines to use for converting mp3 and ogg to wav( - or is wav not streamable and I have to use flac)? I'm trying... mp3 wav * IPofCLIENT [mpg123] $FILE$ - ogg wav * IPofCLIENT [sox] $FILE$ - Is this correct?
